MESSAGE FROM GEORGE WILSON, CHAIRMAN OF THE BMD CLUB OF SCOTLAND

Our Club is very fortunate to have such wonderful members, generous supporters and a hard-working committee, no more so than during 2012, our 25th Anniversary year.

We started the year's celebrations with our Open Show back in March. Judge Ally King had a good entry to go over and the show was a great social event with everyone enjoying themselves in good company.

During the summer we commissioned a special Club Anniversary Plaque which was available to all our members. Those that were unable to collect a plaque from Kelso were able to apply by post and everyone was very appreciative and complimentary about their special keepsake.

Our Kelso weekend was nothing less than RECORD BREAKING! Two founder members, Helen McAulay and Agnes Wilson had the honour of judging this most prestigious event which had drawn a very good entry and the show was opened by Murray our Piper followed by a procession of 44 carts - a UK record for a gathering of carts. It was SPECTACULAR! Many of the carters travel great distances to join us each year, it is an annual pilgrimage that we never take for granted and we are very grateful that so many carters make such effort to come and join in the fun and make our weekend events so memorable.

The after-show Bernie Bash was fantastic with some extra special celebratory touches making this party one of the best so far, and that's saying something. We all had a great time.

Our final event of the year was our Christmas Party. It was another GREAT event! There were games, fancy dress and a visit from Santa with presents for ALL dogs and children. For many years now the club has held this event and entry to the party, all the games and gifts are all COMPLETELY FREE to everyone who wants to join us. And plenty of you DID join us for the festivities! It was a wonderful gathering to end to our Anniversary year on a high note. To the best of our knowledge we are the only Bernese Club (out of the 6 UK Clubs) that offers this to our members and supporters of our Club.

It has been a brilliant 12 months of celebration for our Club, and I am very proud of what we have achieved during our past 25 years. Our Club truly is a Club for our members and we try very hard to ensure the committee provide what the members want.

On behalf of the committee of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Scotland I would like to wish all our members and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you all during 2013, and for the next 25 years! Our next Open Show will be held on 3rd March 2013 at Alva and schedules can be downloaded from our DOWNLOADS page.
