We've all enjoyed a fantastic, action-packed Kelso 2013 weekend
and we have received this feedback

From Bruce & Jean Hellingsworth
"
We would like to thank George and Agnes and the rest of the Scottish Club committee
for putting on another splendid weekend event at Kelso.
After two very wet years the weather was finally with us which meant that all events
run smoothly out in the fresh air,
we will not mention the soaking we got on the Monday morning, well this is Scotland.
After travelling up from Surrey we are made to feel very welcome on arrival
and this hospitality continued throughout the weekend.
The evening bash was again splendid and full of humour,
the food great and the new caterers did not let you down.
The atmosphere of following Murray into the ring for the opening parades
is something very special and will live with us for a very long time.
It is great to see the working side of the breed encouraged
with the carting and obedience events.
Thanks again to all the committee members who made it a
special weekend you all deserve that wee dram now."

From Lee & Julie Palmer
"To George, Agnes & all of the committee.
Thanks for a great weekend, every year without fail you always put on
the best Bernese weekend event in the calendar,
you set the standard so high that no other club comes close,
maybe they should ask how you manage it!
As I am a member of a group with special needs or carters as we are normally known
I would like to say how all your hard work & support is appreciated by us all.
The venue is top class, but the real draw is the atmosphere,
from the warm welcome at the gate & throughout the whole weekend
you and your committee go the extra mile to make KELSO such a huge success.
So thank you once again for making us feel so welcome."

Tom & Wendy Murray wrote on the Bernese News website
"BMD Club of Scotland Championship Show and Fun Day
It was that time of year again that everyone looks forward to on the Bernese Calendar,
the Scottish Club’s Championship Show and Fun Day.
We packed the caravan and set off for the long journey to Kelso with our very good friends
Lee and Julie Palmer. We set off about 10pm and met up with them en route.
We made a couple of stops along the way for dogs and humans to stretch their legs
and we arrived at our destination the next day at 2pm.
We were greeted by George and Agnes who seemed quite concerned
as we were later than normal!
We went over to our usual camping slot and no sooner had we put the steadies down
on the caravan, a member of the Scottish committee had come across
with a bumper sized goody bag containing all the emergency things
you could need on a camping trip.
Kelso is the event to be a part of and is becoming the carting group’s biggest turnout of carts.
The Scottish Club cater for our ‘special needs’ (whatever they may be and get it right!)
The weather was glorious right from the word go although we did have a few light showers
but nothing like what we had last year and what a difference it made.
On the Friday night we decided to have a bit of a do amongst some of our friends.
We decided to lay our tables with a Swiss theme, red tablecloth, Swiss napkins,
finished off with a candelabra and candles and we had one big takeaway
and a few drinks to wet the appetite for the weekend
Saturday was Championship Show day which was opened by 28 carters,
led by Murray the Piper. Once again a tremendous turnout of Bernese Mountain Dogs
with their carts and handlers dressed in traditional Swiss costumes.
All the carters who took part received their own goody bags and the dogs all got a cuddly toy.
In our case Wallace received a crocodile which he now takes to bed with him.
During the Judges lunchtime break the Carting Group organised a demonstration
and for just one show only the Carting Group had its very own ‘Piper’.
(Tom had made Wallace a kilt and jacket for the occasion with his very own set of bagpipes.)
The display highlighted the training and educational side to what we do
and then the fun side with the kids who were watching ringside.
Although we had a few technical issues with the equipment it didn’t spoil the occasion
and thank you to everyone who came up to us afterwards and said how much they had enjoyed it.
The evening Buffet was something to remember,
a great buffet with plenty of variety of hot and cold food with great desserts.
The evening auction was very entertaining with some surprising bids on some very
special donations, along with a great raffle. Haggis was very pleased to get the Octopus toy!
Sunday was a more relaxed day and once again was opened by a carting parade
before the Companion Dog Show started.
The Working Cart Course was running all day and Brian and Lynn Boyd had a steady
entry all day and didn't even have abreak, so a big thank you goes out to them.
The carting classes were also well attended and judged by Jean Hellingsworth.
With the weekend drawing to a close, on the Sunday evening we could all reflect
on the weekend.  It has to be said, for us this event just gets better and better,
a view that is shared by many of us.
A huge big thank you to George and Agnes and the rest of the committee
for all their efforts giving their members a GREAT weekend to remember!
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the carting parades
and demonstration, I think everyone will agree it was a great event.
We had about 28 carts on the Saturday and about 25 on the Sunday
so give yourselves a big pat on the back!
We hope you all got home safely and hope you have all dried out"

"Dear Isobel, After such a fabulous weekend at Kelso, we both wish rejoin
the Bernese Mountain dog club of Scotland. From the moment we arrived on site
we were made to feel so welcome, everyone was so friendly and willing to accept us.
Put it this way we had a ball. Thank you everyone for a great weekend.
I am very keen to get into carting now."

"Dear Agnes and George, Thank you very much to you and your team
for another great weekend. It's always so well organised
and all the committee members without exception were helpful ,cheerful and friendly
as usual. Thankfully the rain held off for everything this year,
a few more hours would have been even better to enable most to pack up in the dry
but who's complaining.
Hope you were able to enjoy the weekend too despite working so hard,
no doubt there are many headaches for you before, during and after,
which have now all been filed away for another year.
There are lovely pictures on the website and all so soon after the weekend too.
Thank you. Looking forward to the next event already. Very best wishes."

From Alison
"I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I had a great time
at the show last week. We just love the dogs and there's a real feel-good factor
about the day; being around so many of them and watching them perform
in the show was brilliant.
Unfortunately we both work full time so we're not in a position to have
our own Bernese at the moment but really hope to one day.
Thanks for a very well organised ,welcoming and fun day."
