Class results and critique from judge Sarah Peacocke

First of all I would like to thank all of the Scottish club committee for making us so
welcome at what is a wonderful show in a lovely venue.  I was so happy to accept the
invitation to judge both dogs and bitches, and although it was a long day as I had a lovely
entry, I enjoyed every minute. I was blessed with some lovely dogs to judge, not least my
Best in Show who is a dog I feel privileged to have judged.

Overall I had a wide range to chose from some, I’m afraid, at the lower end of the breed
height standard which, in turn, makes us think good average height dogs are 'tall'.
Movement in many cases is still an issue, with dogs wide in front and close behind.
Tailset has also got high.

Until I got to the later bitch classes I was thinking how good the temperament was, then
sadly I had a few that backed off and didn’t want to be examined.  I’m one who thinks
there’s a very fine line between nervousness and aggression, so these dogs were placed
further down the line.

This was the first time I have awarded tickets in some 15 years, and the breed has
certainly developed for the better in this time.  Thank you everyone for entering your
dogs and giving me a chance to enjoy judging such a lovely selection.

Veteran Dog  (2 entered, 1 absent)
1st Giffney’s Ir Ch Doremis Lolvo Kid.

Just over seven years old, a lovely dog with good shape and bone.  Strong head with good
eye and expression, level topline and moved well.
2nd Murphy’s Ch Starry Town Favourite Son Don Giovanni at Kinelarty.
An eight year-old boy a little out of coat today and not quite the good body shape of my
winner. Moved well and also has a lovely correct head and expression.

Minor Puppy Dog  (5, 2)
1st Wakeland’s Collansues Secret Potion at Branikdel.

At nine months old a nice dog in the making.  Slightly narrow in front at the moment, but
well proportioned overall, nice expression, good tight feet, a little straight in stifle, moved
2nd Giffney’s Sennen Cruise Control.
A young puppy, only just six months, with lots of growing to do.  Correct type, nice shape
and markings, moved well.
3rd Tonkin’s Pasturegreen Polar Express.
At almost eight months, a good shape of dog that would benefit from some ringcraft
lessons to get him to show to best ability.  Lovely temperament and happy boy who moves

Puppy Dog  (4)
1st King & Green's Joseph Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella.

At almost 12 months of age, this was a lovely type with good expression and plenty of
bone for size. Masculine head. Good depth of chest, slightly high over his rump at the
moment, moved well. Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Hotston’s Jesterbrock Pure Gold.

Another nice young dog, also nearly a year old, not quite as good angulation as my winner
and smaller overall.  Nice shape, compact with good head and expression.
3rd MacLeod’s Solo Van St Niklas (Imp Pol).
11-month old dog, not as mature as first two in class, needs some time, but shows promise
with good overall shape, good chest, well-sprung ribs and nice bone.

Junior Dog  (6, 2)
1st Smith’s Piper Van’t Stokerybos (Imp Bel).

A nice size and mature for his age.  Lovely head, eyes slightly loose at the moment but
should tighten as head broadens.  Level topline, good bone and moved well.
2nd Addison’s Monalou Bollinger.
Slightly smaller than winner, but all the right shape, moved well in front but a little close
behind. Good chest and ribs, good shoulder placement.
3rd Jefferson’s Shirdees Fast N Furious.
Nice type with a strong head, flat and broad skull and good muzzle. Plenty of bone, well
ribbed with a broad body.  Paced a bit of the time when on the move, so movement not
shown to best advantage today.

Yearling Dog  (7, 1)
1st Baldwin's Meadowpark First Class For Fortonpark.
This dog took my eye as soon as he came into the ring. Lovely type, well-balanced with
good reach of neck and broad, deep chest. Lovely expression with dark eye and correct
head.  Slightly high tail carriage but moves well and shown in excellent condition. Res
Dog CC

kind expression.  Moved well in front, little close behind.

Moved well.
2nd Hastings' Bernemcourt Liv’n On A Prayer.
Again a well-proportioned dog of good size, lovely head and expression with a deep stop
and well-placed ears.  Nice bone and tight feet.  Moved well, just slightly straight in stifle.
3rd Boreham’s Deberni Viscount At Broels.
A dark dog in full coat.  Again correct proportions and a good mover in front, a little close
behind.  Showed well.

Limit Dog   (9, 1)
1st Hartley-Mair and Dybdall’s Meadowpark Dream On.

A lovely dog shown to perfection today. The full picture with a lovely head and expression,
deep and wide chest, level topline, correct height to length ratio, good angulation and moved
so well.  At just two and a half, a great one for the future.
2nd Webster’s Esslinbern the Charmed One At Tootega.
Slightly smaller dog than my winner in what was a strong class. Compact, again a lovely
head and expression, well sprung ribs and good bone.
3rd Granger's Orlando Bloom At Jaybiem JW ShCM.
Showed and moved well, a little compact for me.  Lovely dog with again a lovely head
and expression, level topline and good bone.

Open Dog  (12, 1)
1st  Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Ch Meadowpark High Class.
This dog comes into the ring and shows as if he owns it from the moment he stands in the
line up.  Such a correct type with great size and bone, he's a true credit to the breed. Lovely
head with kind expression, dark almond-shaped eye and correct ear placement. He has a
strong neck, excellent shoulders, deep and broad chest, well-sprung ribs and such a balanced
body. His bone, markings and thick long coat are as near to perfection as I have seen.  He
comes to life as he powers round the ring showing such soundness and drive. Delighted to
award him the dog CC and Best in Show.
2nd Baldwin’s Ch Guiness Record From Christeland To Fortonpark (Imp).
Again a super and correct example of the breed.  Lovely size, correct head and expression,
good bone and tight feet.  Great overall shape with broad chest and well-sprung ribs. In
full coat and a lovely picture.
3rd   Hartley-Mair and Dybdall’s Ch Meadowpark Vertigo JW.
The sire of my BIS, this is another lovely dog from the same kennel. He moves so well,
looks the full picture and shows beautifully.  A little smaller than my winner, and a bit out
of coat today, but again a dog that catches your eye and meets the breed standard so well.

Veteran Bitch   (8)
A lovely class of older bitches, really good to see
1st Toms’ Emberfay Moonglow.
A lovely typey bitch, eight years old, in full coat and in lovely condition. Nice size,
feminine head and expression, level topline and covered the ground soundly. Best Veteran.
2nd Rossall’s Fortonpark Molly Malone.
Another eight year-old, lovely girl with in full coat, good strong topline and correct tail
placement.  Good deep and broad chest, well sprung ribs.  Moved with balance.
3rd Marsden & Robertson’s Trudaleaze Im A Maze Zing.
Also an eight year-old bitch, again a lovely type with good action.

Minor Puppy Bitch  (1)
1st Hellingsworth’s Alisnobern Anna At Carabaz.

A worthy winner of the class.  An eight month-old puppy showed very well. A good type,
nice size and plenty of bone.  Level topline, round tight feet, a good deep chest and good
shoulder placement.  All there for the future,

1st Hartley-Mair & Dybdall’s Meadowpark Dark Drama.

A 10 month-old puppy with a lovely head and expression.  Right shape, good chest, nicely
sprung ribs, good bone.  Level topline and good tail carriage. Moved well. Perhaps a little
on the small side.  Reserve Best Puppy in Show
2nd Dyball, Lyndon and Hartley-Mair’s Meadowpark Girl On Fire For Rodiveco.

Two weeks younger than my winner but by the same sire.  Showing the same type and
soundness but preferred head and expression of winner.

Junior Bitch  (7, 3)
1st Green’s Bernervalley Summer Queen At Pasturegreen.

Nice typey bitch, a bit of a fidget, but that didn’t detract from her overall type and
soundness.  Feminine head and expression, level topline, nice rump and tail carriage.
Moved well in front, little close behind.
2nd Jeffries’ Esslinbern Eternal Joy.
Bigger bitch than my winner, going through a bit of an adolescent stage, but all there for
the future.  Nice angulation, moves well.
3rd Tomkins’ Kinelarty Ellen Ray Of Light For Bernershaw.
Again a smaller bitch and lighter in bone. Good movement and nice head and expression.

Yearling Bitch  (5, 1)
1st Baldwin’s Fortonpark Chasing Dreams.

Liked this one as soon as she came into the ring. A young bitch that shows a lot of promise,
compact, in good coat, lovely head and expression, good dark eye, well set ears, nice deep
chest, plenty of bone.  Moves well and shows beautifully, really catching and keeping your
2nd Johnston’s Esslinbern Dacapo In A Dream.
Again a lovely young bitch, perhaps a little unlucky to come up against my winner.  Good
type with plenty of substance, another lovely head and expression.  Just not so happy on the
move today.
3rd Grimes’ Fortonpark Future Dreams.
Litter sister to my winner, a lovely type again, feminine head, expression and eye. Really
little to chose between all three in this class.

Maiden Bitch  (5, 3)
1st Handley’s Jesterbrock Alpine Joy At Enchambray.

A little short of coat today but a nice stamp of bitch, feminine with a slightly narrow head.
Good outline, level topline, rounded rump, good tailset and moves out well.
2nd Jeffries’ Esslinbern Eternal Joy.

Novice Bitch  (1)
1st Calder’s Bernjovi Bed Of Roses.

A nice compact girl, could have a deeper stop, good angulation, level topline, nice
rounded feet and plenty of bone.  Moves well from the front.

Graduate Bitch  (2,)
1st King’s Ecalpharas Moonshine Over Leapingwell.

Well-deserved winner, in full bloom, moved well covering the ground with ease. Nice
shape of head, correct eye and expression.

Post Graduate Bitch  (8, 2)
1st  Davidson’s Meadowpark Pure Breeze.

Lovely girl, well balance on the move, good topline and angulation.  Sweet expression,
good dark eye and nice deep chest.  A really nice bitch shown well.
2nd  Watson’s Staubach Quiana At Stepdashar.
Didn’t move quite as well as my winner, but another very typey bitch, compact with
lovely depth, well-sprung ribs and good shoulder.  Little to chose between 1 and 2.
3rd  Calder’s Bernjovi Bed Of Roses.
Mid Limit Bitch  (4)
1st Baldwin's Fortonpark Lilly's Delight.
A good-sized bitch with a feminine head, good shaped dark eyes and well set ears.
Lovely shoulders, good neck, deep chest and balanced body that keeps its shape on the
move. Has good bone and moves well.  In excellent condition and shown to perfection.
2nd Biggins’ Harvestbank Fantastic Day At Greybern.
A strong bitch with a good feminine head and sweet expression. Good forechest. Tan
could be a little darker. Well angulated with good depth of body.
3rd Tomkins' Meadowpark Hopes And Dreams For Bernershaw.
Another nice bitch but not quite the head or expression of the first two. Compact with a
good outline, moved well in front but another one close behind.

Limit Bitch  (12, 4)
1st Granger’s Shirdees Harlow Jean Of Shadybower.

Excellent example of a good, typey bitch who combines soundness with size. Meets the
breed standard with ease, good broad and deep chest, excellent angulation, good topline,
Lovely head and expression. My type of bitch. Lots to like about her. Res CC.
2nd Hartley-Mair & Dybdall’s Meadowpark Picture Perfect.
Another lovely example, smaller than my winner and if I had a criticism would like more
height.  But everything in the right proportion and she has a lovely head, expression and
shape.  Moves well.
3rd Baldwin’s Fortonpark Dutch Design.
Again a slightly smaller bitch, but lovely type.  Moves a bit wide in front, but great
expression and so happy today.

Open Bitch  (11, 4)
1st Hartley-Mair & Dybdall’s Ch Meadowpark Perfect Blend.

Lovely 5 year-old bitch that stands out for her type and excellent movement. I would
prefer a little more size, it is a concern of mine that some of our bitches are towards the
lower end of the standard.  But she is pure quality throughout, showed to perfection, and
kept her topline on the move.  She has a sweet expression, correct colour and eye, and
good bone. Bitch CC and Best Opposite Sex.
2nd McCormick’s Monalou Artic Queen.
I kept getting drawn back to this bitch who was sadly short of coat today so didn’t have
the ‘finish’ of my winner.  A good sized bitch with a lovely head and feminine expression.
She has a lovely overall shape, with a good body and plenty of substance. Good angulation
which shows when moved.
3rd Baldwin’s Ch Fortonpark Living My Dream At Fortonpark.
Slightly smaller compact bitch who moved well. Again a lovely expression, showed well.
